Simple Flying: Airline Startup Of The Week: Colorado’s AspenJet

It takes a courageous kind of guy to start up an airline these days, but Colorado-based Patrick Dial is up for it. The businessman launched AspenJet last week, an airline that’s positioning itself as a hybrid between commercial and private jets. As Mr Dial puts it, “think carpool for the jet set.”

The Aspen local wants to start direct flights next year. The airline wants to fly between Aspen and New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, and select Texas markets.

The Dallas Morning News: Start-Up Plans Dallas-to-Aspen Flights for Ski Season

A startup jet service wants to take Dallas passengers to the ski haven of Aspen, Colo., this winter, taking advantage of a surplus of planes from the COVID-19 pandemic.

AspenJet is planning flights on its charter airline service from Dallas Love Field to Aspen in early 2021, hoping to create an experience somewhere between that on a private jet and a commercial airliner. The idea comes from Fort Worth native Patrick Dial, who has spent the last three decades in Arizona as a business executive.
